SWEDCAN LUMICAN PLASTICS INC. is rated amongst the leading plastic sheet distributors in CANADA. It has a significant share of the Sign, Display, Skylight, Glazing, Fabrication and Industrial markets.

SWEDCAN is best known for having introduced Continuous Cast Acrylic in the roll form in CANADA. It has over the years provided the plastic substrates for most, if not all, major corporate identification programmes including Shell, Esso, Texaco, B.P, Gulf, Bank of Montreal, CIBC, Canada Trust and Petro-Canada to name but a few. SWEDCAN supplied sheet for the pylon signs for the Shell corporate identification programme in Europe.

SWEDCAN created the acrylic sanitary-ware market in Canada. It introduced a cross linked grade of material and supplied the technology to manufacture plumbing fixtures such as bathtubs, whirlpools, shower enclosures, sinks and lavatories. SWEDCAN’s LUMATECH plumbing fixture manufacturing plant with proprietary technology (fiberglass free “GREEN” products) and intellectual property was sold in January 2001 to Kohler Co., Kohler Wisconsin. Kohler is the largest sanitary-ware company in the world.

Mr. Kendall has owned SWEDCAN LUMICAN PLASTICS since its inception. Prior to incorporating SWEDCAN LUMICAN PLASTICS INC. in 1980, Mr. Kendall was V.P. and general manager of Swedlow Plastics. He retained that position when the business was acquired by Montedison followed by USS Chemicals and Aristech. Des Kendall has been directly involved with a wide range of plastic sheet for over 30 years and has numerous patents to his credit.

SWEDCAN LUMICAN is also involved in the construction industry. It owns The Gracious Living Centre, which supplies high-end Kitchens, Baths and Custom Acrylic Furniture. The Gracious Living Centre has been in business since 1988 and has two showrooms one of which is in downtown, Toronto. The Gracious Living Centre has a proven record of completing upscale projects on time and within budget.
